Abstract
|
[Objective] To explore the change of associative learning in rat of multi-infarct dementia (MID) and the influence of "Yiqitiaoxue, fuhenpeiyuan" acupuncture method on it by ob servation of th behavioral features per group. [Methods] The multiinfarct dementia model was made by injecting emboli into the internal carotid artery. Of them 43 proved dementia by shuttle box weallocated to 3 groups: model, acup and sham-acupuncture, meanwhile 15 normal and sham operated rats were used as control respectively. Shuttle box test were employed to assess associative learning ability per group and to analyse the curative effect of acup [Results] Companed to normal and sham operation group, Model animals showed significant learning and memory impairments: longer passive avoidance latency (PAL) and lower active avoidance response rate (AARR) in shuttle box test (P<0.05);Interestingly, the animals exposed to acupuncture have remarked shorter PAL and higher AARR, whereas, no difference between sham-acupuncture and model group. [Conelusion] These data suggest that "Yiqitiaoxue, fubenpeiyuan" acupuncture method can improve associative learning in rats of MID and points have specificity of treatment. |
