| Abstract

| [Objective] To investigate the effects of Xuebijing (cleaning the blood) injection on them ultiple organ function and mortality in ratswith sepsis.[Methods] Sepsis was reproduced in ratswith cecum ligation and puncture (CLP).Ninety-six male W istarratswererandom lydivided intonorm alcontrolgroup (n=8),sham-operation group (n=8),CLP model group (n=40),Xuebijing-treated group (n=40).The two latter groups were further divided into five groups of 2,8,24,48,and 72-hour subgroups with 8 ratsin each.In addition,another experiments were performed to observe the effect of treatment of Xuebijing on the survivalrate.[Results] Serum levels of ALT,AST,blood urea nitrogen (BUN),creatinine (Cr),creatine kinase (CK) and MB isoenzyme ofcreatine kinase (CK-MB) were significantly increased with certain extentat different intervals.Early treatment with Xuebijing could markedly improved serum biochemical param eterspartly.Treatm entwith Xuebijing or/and antibiotic could significantly improve the survivalrates in septic rats.[Conclusion] These finding sindicates that Xuebijing injection can obviously decline the mortality of septicrats,and hasplayed an important role in protecting against the multiple organ dysfunction. |
