Effect of Combined Double Oxygen-Vanadium(α-Furoic Acid) and Liuwei Rehmaniae Bolus on Attenuation and Synergistic Effect in Rats with Diabetes Mellitus |

Abstract
|
[Objective] To observe the attenuation and synergistic effect of combined double Oxygen-Vanadium (α-Furoic Acid, VO-FA)and Liuwei Rehmaniae Bolus(LWRB)in rats with diabetes mellitus (DM). [Method] The DMrats were given a single dose of VO-FA and combined VO-FA and Liuwei Rehmaniae Bolus respectively. Normal group and model group were also established. Blood-sugar was measured weekly and the transient blood sugar change after the last administration was determined. Four weeks later the blood-fat, serum T-SOD and MDA value were measured. [Result] The combined VO-FA and LWRB group may obviously decrease blood sugar and the total cholesterol level and enhance HDL level and T-SOD activity of DMrats (P<0.01, P<0.05). There was a tendency to decrease MDA level. [Conclusion] The combined VO-FA and LWRB has obvious attenuation and synergistic effect in DMrats. |
