| The main contribution of academician WU Xian-zhong in the field of integrating Chinese and Western medicine research was here introduced.First,a new system of integrating Chinese and Westernmedicine for treating acute abdomen was summed up and improved gradually.The total thoughts in clinical research and the basic content of integrating Chinese and Western medicine were confirmed effective,the regularity was explored,dosage form transformed and the mechanism studied.The diagnostic system integrated TCM and Western medicine with combined differentiating diseases and symptoms and signs.WHO confirmed that combination of TCM with Western medicine for treating acute abdomen is one of the five advanced methods in the world,having a completed system and the academic position. Second,the treatment method of combination of TCM with Western medicine achieved an important breakthrough and obviously decreased the mortality rate in treating acute abdomen,especially acute severe cholangitis,acute severe pancreatitis,intestines endoxemia,MODS/MOF,etc.Third,academician WU Xian-zhong firstly advocated a study and research thoughts that emphasized the important role of exploring the mechanism based on therapeutic principles.WU carried out a long-term experimental study on the prescription of Tongligongxia,promoting blood flow and eliminating stasis,heat-clearing and detoxicating and regulating qi to alleviate mental depression method,etc.Fourth,a treatment mode of combining TCM and Western medicine was established that perfectly combined the drug treatment, operative treatment and micro-invasive technique.He emphasized the combination of inheritance and innovation and indicated that the combination of TCM and Western medicine,medical science and pharmaceutical sciences,traditional method and modern technique was the basic work of scientific innovation and development.Fifth,the national key discipline and innovation academic team were established.He cultivated one-hundred masters and doctors and established a academic team that included old,middle and young specialists of combination of TCM with Western medicine.The integrated clinical surgery guided by WU became one of the branch of knowledge with the most vigour and influence and be selected in National 211 Engineering construction item and Tianjin focal point subjects construction item. |
