| Abstract

| [Objective] To investigate the effects of Hui-shen (Recupera-ting the mind) granule on neurological behavior and long-term potentiation (LTP) of hippocampus in rats with acute cerebral ischemia,and study its promotion mechanism for neurological behavior and the ability of study and memory.[Methods] Rats were randomly divided into control,model and therapy groups.Models of acute cerebral ischemia were established by the method of Zea-Longa line tied.The changes of LTP at perforation pathway and dentate gyrus (PP-DG) were detected.[Results] The neurological function scores of model groups were lower than the scores at the first day after the model was established.The scores of the therapy group on the 3rd,7th day increased (P<0.05).In model groups the slope of excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) and the population spike (PS) height were significantly decreased compared to that in the control group (P<0.05,P<0.01).Compared with the model groups,the slope of EPSP in therapy groups was enhanced (on 1st day P>0.05,on 3rd day P<0.05,on 7th day P<0.01) and the PS height was also enhanced (P<0.05,P<0.01).[Conclusion] Hui-shen granule can improve the neurological behavior,learning and memory ability in rat with acute cerebral ischemia,which may be attributed to the facilitation role on LTP in hippocampal dentate gyrus. |
