Abstract
[Objective] To observe the effects of Kaiyuqingre (dissipating depression of QI and clearing away heat,KYQR) on preserving β-cell function in rats with spontaneous type 2 diabetes (Otsuka Long Evans Tokushima Fatty rats,OLETF).[Methods] The OLETF rats were administrated with KYQR for twelve weeks, using rosiglitazone as the control. At the end, oral glucose tolerance test were carried out to evaluate islets function, and the blood sugar, insulin secretion, insulin secretion index were measured with imohistochemistry stain and computer image analysis technique was used to determine the expression of insulin in islets.[Results] KYQR had less glucose area under the curve and more insulin area under the curve in oral glucose tolerance test than the model group. The KYQR group insulin secretion index was improved.Immunohistochemistry stain of islets demonstrated that KYQR could improve the expression of insulin.[Conclusion] KYQR can effectively regulate glucose metabolism of rats with type 2 diabetes.and its mechanism may involve preserving the β-cell function.
