Abstract
|
[Objective] To study the effect of Houhai acupoint acupuncture on the learning and memory function of rat which suffers from vascular dementia as well as on the synaptic protein expression and neuronal ultrastructure of hippocampus' CA1 region. [Methods] Forty eight rats were randomly divided into blank group, model group and acupuncture group, Rat VD models established by permanent occlusion of the bilateral common carotid artery, then acupuncture Houhai acupoint for three courses of treatment, Morris water maze was used to assess their learning and memory ability, the change of the hippocampal tissue was studied with immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscope. [Results] Learning and memory ability scores of acupuncture group, and area synaptic grain protein expression hippocampal CA1 of had the significant difference(P<0.05) compared with blank group. Nerve cell encapsulated, euchromatin in the nucleus were evenly distributed. There were many mitochondria without obvious breakage or missing and abundant rough endoplasmic reticulum;there were a few glial cells, no obvious swelling, tearing and dissolution of myelin. There was micro-filament microtube, abundant mitochondria. [Conclusion] Acupuncture Houhai acupoint can improve vascular dementia rats learning and memory ability, whose mechanism is probably related to improve hippocampal CA1 area synaptic grain protein expression and neurons on ultrastructure. |
