| Abstract

| [Objective] To explore the scientific basis for the medicinal materials from the different germplasm resources of the same genus as yam be used to replace yam commodity.[Methods] The allantoin contents of these medicinal materials, such as D. persimilis, D.alata and D.fordii, were determined by HPLC method.[Results] Under the same conditions of ecology environment, cultivation and processing, the different contents of allantoins among these medicinal materials showed no regularity. [Conclusion] The medicinal materials from the different germplasm resources of the same genus as yam may have the similar activity of "invigorating stomach" with yam. |
