Abstract
|
[Objective] To observe the effect of paeoniflorin on ApoE-/- mice blood lipids and the formation of atherosclerosis.[Methods] Six week old ApoE-/- male mice were normal diet feeding four weeks, high fat diet after 12 weeks were randomly divided into three groups: ApoE-/- model group and paeoniflorin 60 mg/kg, 30 mg/kg dose groups, the same genetic background of normal C57BL/6J mice of the same age as the control group. After 12 weeks of paeoniflorin intervention, observed the changes in serum lipids and measure the plaque area of arch department, chest and abdomen section of aorta.[Results] Compared with C57BL/6J group,ApoE-/- model triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol(TC) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) were significantly increased (P<0.01), while the paeoniflorin 60 mg/kg, 30 mg/kg groups serum lipid levels were significantly reduced than the ApoE-/- model group (P>0.05, P<0.01), and varying degrees of diminish the aortic plaques area in each segment.[Conclusion] Paeoniflorin has the effect of decreasing the level of blood lipids, and inhibiting the formation of aortic plaques, indicating that paeoniflorin has the effect of anti-atherosclerosis. |
