Abstract
|
The promotion and restriction among Five elements is a very important content in theory of Five elements. Currently, the main branch of knowledge of TCM considered that the inter-promotion among Five elements tends to defined as mutual generation and the inter-restriction as mutual holding. This definition is not entirely reasonable. The meaning of inter-promotion had two layers: the first is the mutual continuation of time, space and attributing and the second is promotion barely. The meaning of inter-restriction has also two layers: the first is mutual separation and treating of the time, space and attributing and the second is the suppression and obstruction barely. The first meaning is essential and absolute and the second meaning is derived and relative. The inter-promotion has paid attention to mutual continuation and assimilation, while inter-restriction to separation and difference. Giving a correct understanding of the meaning of inter-promotion and inter-restriction has a significant effects on avoiding logical confusion and improving the basic theory of TCM. |
