| Abstract

| [Objective] To compare the therapeutic difference between blood-letting and cupping combined with external used Xinhuangpian powder and routine Western medicine therapy in treating herpes zoster.[Methods] Sixty patients were randomly divided into 2 groups with 30 patients in each group. The treatment group was treated with pricking blood on the points with severe pain,followed by cupping and external using of Xin huangpian powder. The control group was treated with external application of Aciclovir Ointment and oral Aciclovir. The therapeutic effects between these two groups were compared. [Results] The 21 patients were cured in the treatment group with total effect ratio of 93.3%, while 7 patients in the control group(total effect ratio of 66.7%. There was a significant difference between these two groups(P<0.05).The time duration of pain relief, vesication stopping, scabbing and decrustation in treatment group were shorter than that in control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). There was no difference in incidence of post-herpetic neuralgia statistically. [Conclusion] Blood-letting and cupping combined with external using of Xinhuangpian powder is an effective therapy in treating herpes zoster. |
