| Abstract

| [Objective] This study is to investigate the effect of tonifying kidney activating blood circulation and resolving phlegm method on the endocrine and metabolic indexes of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and infertility.[Methods] Eighty-two patients with PCOS and infertility treated from Jan 2014 to Nov 2015 were selected, and they were randomly divided into observation group and control group, while the control group was treated by oral Metformin (500 mg, TID), and the observation group combined with decoction of tonifying kidney, activating blood circulation and resolving phlegm based on that, and sex hormone levels and metabolic indicators before and after treatment were compared between the two groups,and the ovulation and pregnancy rate were compared too.[Results] The serum LH, PRL, T in both groups after treatment were significantly reduced, the E2 was significantly increased, and the difference was of statistically significant between the two groups (P<0.05); the BMI in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, but the difference was of not statistically significant between them (P>0.05). The TG, TC, FPG, HOMA-IR in the two groups after the treatment were lower than those before treatment, and the that in observation group was lower than that of the control group, the differences were of statistically significant (P<0.05). The ovulation rate and pregnancy rate in observation group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05).[Conclusion] The method of tonifying kidney, activating blood circulation and resolving phlegm can adjust sex hormone in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome, and improve the glucose, lipid metabolism and insulin resistance, and improve ovulation and pregnancy. |
