| Abstract

| [Objective] To study the clinical effect of the Xijie application powder in the treatment of children with acute asthma. And to evaluate the therapeutic effect of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of Xijie application powder on pediatric asthma.[Method] One hundred and twenty children of pediatric asthma in acute period were randomized into treatment group and control group. Both groups were treated by basic western and medical treatments. Besides these,60 children in treatment group were treated by Xijie application powder. The others in control group were treated by only medical medicine. Not only pediatric pneumonia clinical symptoms such as cough, phlegm, shortness breath, and lung rale, but also TCM syndrome like spirit, nasal congestion, rhinorrhoea, facial complexion, skin temperature, appetite, defecation, urination, tongue and pulse were observed after one week treatment in both groups.[Results] In treatment group, the total recovery rate was 95% and TCM syndrome recovery rate was 83.34% in acute period. The effect of treatment group was obviously better than the control group (P<0.05). The effect on relieving cough, reducing phlegm, in treatment group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). Improvements on nasal congestion in treatment group were more effective than those in control group (P<0.05). The onset time of relieving cough and shortness breath, reducing phlegm in treatment group was shorter than that in control group (P<0.05).[Conclusion] Treatment of pediatric asthma could improve the both clinical effect and TCM syndrome by Xijie application powder and traditional Chinese medicine in acute period. Treatment of pediatric asthma by Xijie application powder and traditional Chinese medicine could shorten the course of disease. It is worth further study and applying in clinic. |
