Abstract
|
Epimedium herb, as a traditional herb medicine for tonifying Kidney Yang, had a long history of use in Chinese medicine. Our paper had reviewed the relevant literature of chemical analysis and pharmacokinetics of Epimedium. It was found that Epimedium contained many active constituents (such as flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolic acids and so on), and its active constituents were differently affected by many factors such as cultivars, place of production, medicinal site, and processing. The bioavailability of various components of Epimedium in vivo was different, and the pharmacokinetics was differently affected by many factors such as disease, prescription compatibility, processing, and drug interaction. According to the summary of quantitative analysis of active constituents in Epimedium and the pharmacokinetic properties, some problems existed in the present research had been discussed to provide a reference for the quality control, drug development and clinical application of Epimedium herb. |
