Abstract
|
Puerariaee lobata radix is the dry root of Puerariaee lobata (Willd.) Ohwi, belongs to leguminous plant. It has a long application history as a traditional Chinese medicine. Many ancient prescriptions for diabetes mellitus contain Puerariaee lobata radix. Therefore, people have paid much attention to the application of Puerariae lobata radix in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. Modern pharmacological studies have found that Puerariae lobata radix played a role in the treatment of diabetes by improving insulin resistance, protecting islet β cells, promoting glucose metabolism and improving oxidative stress. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with complex mechanism. The study of single disease can not fully explain the course of disease, so it needs to systematically study in combination with complications. In recent years, Puerariae lobata radix and puerarin have good therapeutic effects on diabetes mellitus, diabetic liver disease, nephropathy, retinopathy, vascular dysfunction, heart disease, diabetic foot, osteoporosis, neuropathy, reproductive system dysfunction and other complications. However, some studies have limitations and lacked of combined use of drugs for diabetes and complications. The pharmacological effects of Puerariae lobata radix on diabetic complications need to be further studied. |
