Abstract
|
This paper aims to report a patient with senile ptosis effectively treated with Chinese medicine therapy based on the syndrome differentiation process. Senile ptosis refers to "ptosis" in Chinese medicine. The mechanism of the disease is often identified as spleen deficiency with sunken qi in clinical practice. The patient in the case report was differentiated as spleen deficiency combined with heart yang deficiency. Therefore, we focused on the reinforcing qi and elevating yang method to treat deficiency of the heart and the spleen yang and weakness of the clear yang syndrome. Both the heart and the spleen were regulated by fortifying the spleen and replenishing qi method and upraising the heart yang method. Besides, acupuncture medication combined therapy was adopted following the principle of combined internal and external treatment. The patient's palpebral fissure was enlarged to almost the normal size and her quality of life was improved after treatment. |
