Abstract
[Objective] To observe the effects of scalp acupuncture combination on cognitive function and calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) in patients with acute ischemic stroke. [Methods] 140 patients with acute ischemic stroke were randomly divided into observation group(70 cases,10 cases dropped off) and control group(70 cases,8 cases dropped off). On the basis of basic treatment in neurology, the control group was treated with body acupuncture, which was used to acupuncture Hegu(LI 4),Waiguan(TE 5),Sanyinjiao(SP 6) and Taichong(LR 3) points on the affected side. The observation group was treated with scalp acupuncture on the basis of the control group. Scalp acupuncture was performed on the anterior oblique line of vertex-temporal(MS 6)(Qianshencong(EX-HN1) to Xuanli(GB 6)),posterior oblique line of vertex-temporal(MS 7)(Baihui(GV 20) to Qubin(GB 7),lower-lateral line of occiput(MS 14),lateral line 2 of vertex(MS9),once a day,5 times a week, for a total of 2 weeks. Mini-mental State Examination(MMSE) score was observed and serum CGRP concentration was detected in two groups. [Results] The MMSE score and CGRP level of the two groups were improved at 90 days after treatment compared with that before treatment(P<0.05),and the MMSE score and CGRP level of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group at 90 days after treatment(P<0.05). [Conclusion] The therapeutic effect of the observation group is better than that of the control group, and both groups can improve the cognitive level of patients. Scalp acupuncture combined with body acupuncture has a better effect on the cognitive level of patients than body acupuncture alone, which may be related to the increase of serum CGRP concentration.
