Abstract
Cardiac hypertrophy is an independent risk factor for the occurrence and development of severe adverse cardiovascular events such as heart failure. Oxidative stress can cause myocardial cell damage and fibrosis, accelerate the development of ventricular remodeling and cardiac hypertrophy. Inhibition of oxidative stress can slow down the formation of cardiac hypertrophy, which plays an important role in the prevention of heart failure. As a classic anti-oxidative stress signaling pathway. Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1(Keap1)/nuclear factor 2 associated factor 2(Nrf2)/antioxidant response element(ARE) signaling pathway can reduce oxidative stress, protect damaged myocardium, reduce myocardial fibrosis and improve cardiac hypertrophy by activating anti-oxidative stress mechanism in vivo. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the research progress of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in improving myocardial hypertrophy by regulating Keap1/Nrf2/ARE signaling pathway, and to provide ideas for improving myocardial hypertrophy by TCM.
