Abstract
    Polydatin,the monomeric component extracted from the dried rhizomes of Chinese herb Polygonum cuspidatum,is a glucoside derivative of resveratrol. Modern pharmacologic studies demonstrated that Polydatin plays essential roles in numerous important biological processes,including oxidative stress,inflammation,apoptosis and so on. Polydatin has received much attention due to its higher antioxidant activity and enhanced bioavailability,when compared with resveratrol. Recent studies have found that Polydatin can be applied in the treat of a variety of oxidative stress-related diseases,including neurodegenerative diseases,diabetes,cardiovascular diseases and so on. In this review,we systematically discussed the antioxidant effects of Polydatin in a wide variety of common diseases. We expect to provide reference for future research on the potential development and utilization of Polydatin.
