Abstract
The incidence of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(CHD) is showing a trend toward affecting younger individuals and has become one of the diseases with the highest mortality rates in China. Current research indicates that AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK) participates in the entire process of CHD occurrence and development by influencing biological processes such as cardiomyocyte injury, death, proliferation, and transformation. In recent years, studies on traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in cardiovascular diseases have demonstrated its favorable clinical efficacy and minimal adverse reactions. Concurrently, numerous experimental studies have been conducted on TCM regulating the AMPK signaling pathway for CHD treatment. The article reviews and summarizes recent relevant literature, outlines the role of AMPK in the pathogenesis of CHD,and summarizes progress of in vivo and in vitro experimental research on TCM regulation of AMPK and its related signaling pathways, aiming to provide insights for a deeper understanding of CHD pathogenesis and TCM treatment strategies.
