Abstract
Objective To evaluate the comprehensive efficacy of Shexiang Baoxin Pills combined with standardized Western medical treatment for angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease and clarify its therapeutic advantages. Methods Based on multi-center real-world clinical data, a retrospective cohort study was conducted. Patients with angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease admitted to six tertiary hospitals in Tianjin from January 2014 to June 2022 were included. Through 1∶1 matching, 940 subjects were divided into the exposure group(Shexiang Baoxin Pills combined with standard treatment) and the non-exposure group(standard treatment alone), with 470 cases in each group. The primary endpoints were the incidence of cardiovascular events during hospitalization, clinical biochemical indicators, and color Doppler ultrasound of the carotid arteries. Results The levels of creatine kinase, aspartate aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, thrombin time, D-dimer, total cholesterol, creatinine, albumin, alanine aminotransferase, total bilirubin, and platelets in the exposure group were significantly lower than those in the non-exposure group, and the carotid intima-media thickness and the detection rate of carotid plaques were significantly lower in the exposure group, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05). Conclusion Patients with angina pectoris due to coronary heart disease treated with Shexiang Baoxin Pills combined with standardized Western medical treatment have a lower incidence of cardiovascular events, more stable coagulation function, myocardial enzymes, renal function, liver function, blood glucose, and lipid levels, and smaller carotid intima-media thickness and lower plaque occurrence rate.
