Abstract
Objective: The therapeutic mechanism of Liu Shen Wan for leukemia was investigated from the event of inducing cell apoptosis. Methods: Using HL-60 cells as experimental object the experimental research of Chansu(toad cake Venenum Bufonis), the chief component of Liu Shen Wan, was carried out. With trypan blue as the index of activity the cellular apoptosis was observed by means of microscopy and flowcytometry. Results: Cytotoxicity of Liu Shen Wan and Chansu at high concentration appeared while reduced apoptosis did in lower concentration. This effect was highly correlated with their concentration and action period. Conclusion: It might be one of the mechanisms of Liu Shen Wan for treating leukemia.
