Abstract
    Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of combined Western and traditional Chinese medicine on depression. Methods: 86 depression patients diagnosed with CCDM-2-R criteria were divided into treatment group and control group randomly. After treatment for four weeks the therapeutic results was evaluated by HAMD quantity form. Results: Both total cure rate and evident effect rate were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.05).The quantity form of the side effect at four weeks after therapy between these two groups were also significantly different(P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect against depression by combined western and traditional Chinese medicine was superior to that by western alone.
