| Xu Li"is the start point of the Great Stomach Collateral but not the location of cardiac apex beating."Zuo Ru Xia",the end of the Great Stomach Collateral with the meaning of under the left breast,is the exact location of cardiac apex beating.Four aspects support this viewpoint."Xu"means empty without excess and"Li"means location."Xu Li"refers to the site inside stomach without acupoint.The start point of the Great Stomach Collateral is"Xu Li"and its end on the body surface is the meaning of under the left breast"Zuo Ru Xia".In Canon of Internal Medicine there are 2 charac-ters"qi",which are generally considered as"Xu Li".But the author considers them as"Zuo Ru Xia".The misunder-standing of looking"Xu Li"as the Great Stomach Collateral has popularized for very long time.From the authors opinion,"Xu Li"is a concept of"dot"while the Great Stomach Collateral is idea of"thread".So"Xu Li"is not the pronoun of the Great Stomach Collateral. |
