| SARS is a new kind of disease.For treating the virus diseases such as epidemic meningitis, epidemic hemorrhagic fever, TCM has its predominance.Syndrome differentiation of TCM does not focus on the pathogen, but on the syndrome which is the manifestation of struggling between pathogenic factors and vital Qi after invasion of pathogens. Epidemic febrile diseases are caused by both hyperactivity of seasonal and environmental pathogen and deficiency of vital Qi. So, TCM treatment is not only anti-virus but also expelling the evils by strengthening the vital Qi. SARS belongs to the latent dampness syndrome in spring epidemic febrile disease of TCM.The pathogenic character of SARS is that the damp-heat toxin accumulates and blocks in the upper and middle Jiao, consumes Qi and induces stasis, even causes interior obstruction and respiratory failure.TCM treatment of SARS is divided into early, middle, crisis and convalescent stage. The prescriptions should be selected according to the syndrome diagnosis of TCM. |
