Clinical experiences of treating SARS in Guangdong Hospital of TCM

Abstract
    [Objective] To observe the clinical effect of SARS treated by integrated Chinese and western medical therapy. [Methods] All 103 SARS cases were treated by integrated Chinese and western medical therapeutic project. It was divided into 4 stages: early stage, middle stage, crisis stage and recovery stage according to Wei-qi Ying-xue Differentiation and Triple-jiao Differentiation of TCM.The treatment of western medicine were nutrition supporting therapy, oxygen inhalation, auxiliary ventilation through respirator, anti-infection, enhancement of immunity, anti-infection by laser, expectant treatment and so on.[Result] Among 103 cases, 96 were cured (93.21%) and 7 dead (6.79%). The average time for abatement was (6.72±3.95) d. The focus at the lung was disappeared completely in 94 cases (91.26%), and X-ray showed the time was(18.13±8.99) d. Fibrotic striped changes was shown on 2 cases’ X-ray photograph.[Conclusion] The integrated Chinese and western medical therapeutic project has marked effects on interrupting the duration, relieving the toxic symptoms, shortening the stage of fever and the duration of hospitalization, decreasing the sequel, complication and side-effects of western medicine.
