| The 5th symposium on TCM strategical status titled of Preventing and Treating SARS with TCM was held in Beijing on April 26, 2003. The experts discussed the pathogenic factors and pathogenesis of SARS,exchanged the methods for preventing and treating SARS.They summed up the diagnosis and treatment according to the syndrome in the four stages, and stressed the importance of TCM treatment betimes.In the early stage,the treatment principle should be clearing and expelling heat.Over using the herbs with cold and cool nature is not suitable.The herbs for strengthening vital Qi, promoting blood circulation, dissipating mass are applicable in the early stage in order to avoid fibrosis of lungs and diffuse of focus and improve the absorption of the inflammatory exudate. Keeping the bowels relaxing to promote draining out of toxins is important in the whole course of the treatment.TCM and WM should work hand in hand to treat and prevent SARS. |
