Abstract
[Objective] To observe the effect of galvanopuncture on serum motilin level in rats with reflux esophagitis. [Methods] Reflux esophagitis was produced by subtotal pylorus ligation and incision of lower esophagus sphincter (LES) in rats.Forty-eight hours later bilateral Neiguan and Zusanli were stimulated by galvanopuncture for 10 minutes, twice a day. Treatment for 8 days comprised a therapeutic course. [Results] The motilin levels increased in all rats after stimulation. No significant difference was observed with that in control after 8 day treatment (P<0.05). [Conclusion] Zusanli galvanopuncture can correct the functional disturbance of digestive tract, with significant increasing of serum motilin. That may accelerate the recovery of LES and raise the pressure of LES to prevent gastric reflux and precipitate the restoration of the illness.
