Abstract
|
[Objective] To investigate the effect of borneol on the plasma contents of catecholamines NE,E in rats and observe the relationship of dosage-effect to explore the mechanisms and target of borneol.[Methods] 40 wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups,0.9%NS,1%CMC-Na,and natural borneol in different dosages were given respectively twice a day. 24 hours later, the contents of catecholamines NE,E levels of plasma in rats were measured by HPLC combined with electrochemical assay.[Results] 1)Decreased NE contents in plasma were observed in each borneol group with significant difference between middle-dosage,high dosage groups and CMC-Na group(P<0.05);2)Compared with CMC-Na group, decreased levels were seen in every borneol group with marked difference in middle-dosage group(P<0.05).[Conclusion] borneol has certain inhibitory action on excitabilitv of sympathetic nerve and release of catecholamines. It is estimated that borneol can regulate the physiopathologic activity of organism probably through affecting neuroendocrine function. This may be one of the mechanisms for using borneol preparations extensively in clinic to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease. |
