Abstract
|
Shaoyao-Gancao-Tang(SGT),a traditional Chinese prescription,is sometimes used together with some synthetic drugs in Japan.Glycyrrhizin(GL)is a major active glycoside ingredient in SGT and is biotransformed into a bioactive metabolite,18β-glycyrrhetic acid(GA),by intestinal bacteria in the gut after being orally administered. In this study, the effects of the co-administered synthetic drugs on the bioavailability of GL(plasma GA concentration)were investigated in rats. The alterations of bioavailability of GL from repetitive administration of SGT were examined. The results showed that the plasma concentration of GA was gradually elevated by the repetitive administration of GST. |
