| On the basis of the theory and therapeutic principle in Synopsis of Pre scriptions of the Golden Chamber for treating retention of phlegm and fluid,the author in this article has discussed the pathogenic factors and pathogenesis,pat hogenic characteristics and therapeutic method. Retention of phlegm and fluid is mostly caused by dysfunction of the lung,spleen and kidney and with characte ristics of yang deficiency and yin excess,complicated syndromes and usually acco mpanied with other evils. In the treatment of the disease,generally speaking,one must follow the principle that "drugs with warmingeffect should be applied to treat the retention of phlegm and fluid". When treatment is undertaken, however,based on the urgency and severity of the tendency of disease,combined with the substantial condition appropriate measures should be adopted to understand the pat hogenesis in detail,distinguish the location of stagnation in different parts of the body,grasp the characteristic of yang deficiency and yin excess or asthenia in origin and sthenia in superficiality. |
