| Abstract
|
| [[Objective] To observe the changes of the excitatory amino acid(EAAS) content in the brain of rats with multi-infarct-dementia(MID)treated with "tiaoshenyiqi"(regulating spirit and tonifying qi) acupuncture. [Methods] MID in rats was established by injecting emboli into the internal carotid artery. The rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:model group, acupuncture group and sham-acupoint group. Normal and sham-operated rats were used as control. The contents of EAAS(Glu,Gln,Asp,Asn) in cortex, hippocampus and striatum of the rats were detected after acupuncture and the intervention effect was analysed. [Results] The "tiaoshenyiqi" acupuncture can significantly decrease the content of Glu in hippocampus (P<0.05), of Gln in striatum (P<0.01), of Asp in cerebral cortex, hippocampus and striatum (P<0.05 or P<0.01), of Asn in cerebral cortex and striatum (P<0.05 or P<0.01). [Conclusion] The mechanism of the "tiaos henyiqi" acupuncture underlying improving demented status may be related to adjusting the EAAS levels in cortex, hippocampus and striatum. |
