Abstract
|
[Objective] To investigate the influence of Radix Stephaniae Tetradrae (tetrandrine)-contained biomaterials on chondrocytes in vitro. [Methods] PLLA films with or without tetrandrine were prepared. The proliferation and viability of bovine articular chondrocyte seeded on both films were examined. With whole cell enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (Cell ELISA) the BrdU incorporation during DNA synthesis and the secretion of collagen type II of the chondrocytes on each PLLA films were detected. Cellular viability was estimated by the MTT assay and the cellular function was assessed by measuring glycosaminoglycan (GAG) secreted by chondrocytes. [Results] The cellular morphology, viability and histochemical results revealed that PLLA materials containing tetrandrine could improve the chondrocyte proliferation and its functions. [Conclusion] The PLLA materials containing tetrandrine are suited to the cartilage reconstruction and the cartilage tissue engineering |
