Abstract
|
[Objective] To elucidate the mechanism underlying the effect of Huoxue Huayu(Activating blood circulation and remove stasis) herbal medicine on the recruitment of leukocytes in blood circulation. [Methods] The effect of HHI-I(Huoxue Huayu Injection No.I) on the expression of adhesion molecules mRNA induced by TNF-alpha was investigated in vitro with RT-PCR technique. [Results] In the cultured lung microvascular endothelial cells stimulated with TNF-alpha, the expression of adhesion molecules, such as E-selectin, P-selectin, ICAM-1 mRNA, was increased significantly. In contrast, the cells exposed to HHI-I simultan eously exhibited a marked lower expression of the TNF-alpha induced endothelial adhesion molecules. [Conclusion] HHI-I can inhibit the excessive expression of endothelial cell adhesion molecules. |
