Abstract
[Objective] To analyze the effect of comprehensive and staged therapy and restitution manipulation on nerve electricity and evaluate with scales in patients with acute lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.[Methods] One hundred and eighty diagnostic patients were randomly divided into comprehensive and staged therapy group, traditional massage therapy group (massotherapy) and modern medicine conservative treatment group. Neural electromyography of anterior tibial muscle and musculi gastrocnemius and Oswestry disability index (ODI) were assessed before and after acute stage.[Results] The scores of neural electromyography and ODI among three group were descend (P<0.01). Among them, the improvement of the comprehensive group was the most significant, and traditional massage group was the worst (P<0.01, P<0.05). Neural electromyography had a significantly positive correlation with ODI.[Conclusions] The comprehensive therapy produces a better improvement on nerve electricity and on the evaluated scales in patients with acute lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. but massage therapy seems not to be suitable to use at the acute stage.
