| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To observe the effects of traditional Chinese drug Tangshenqing-1 on renal ultrastructure in diabetic rats with glomerular sclerosis. [Methods] Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 groups:normal control group and diabetic group. Diabetes was induced by intra-abdominal injection of alloxan. Four weeks later, diabetic rats were further divided into 2 sub-groups:group of diabetic rats treated with Tangshenqing-1 and diabetic untreated control group. Renal ultrastructure of each group was observed before and after Tangshenqing-1 treatment for 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks respectively. [Results] The ultrastructure examination showed thickening of the glomerular basement membrane (GBM), proliferation of mesenterium and mesangial cells in diabetic control group. Above changes, however, were ameliorated more seriously in Tangshenqing-1-treated group. [Conclusions] Tangshenqing-1can prevent the progress of renal pathological changes in diabetic rats. It is suggested that Tangshenqing-1 may have some protective effects on kidney. |
