| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To observe the therapeutic effect of integrated treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in patients with hyperthyroidism. [Methods] One hundred and eighteen patients were randomly divided into two groups. One group (n=118)was treated with Chinese crude drug(Long dancao, Zhizi, Huangqin, Chaihu,Yujin, Sheng longmu etc.) and low dose Tapazol. The other group(n=63) was with western medicine Tapazol. The course of therapy was four weeks. The total effective rate and the level of thyroid hormones was compared after therapy. [Results] The total effective rate of the combined group was significantly different when compared with that of the western medicine group(94.9% vs 84.1%, P<0.05). There was no significant difference in improving the function of thyroid(P>0.05). [Conclusions] The effect of combined treatment of TCM and Western medicine is better than that of Western medicine only. It is deserved to generalize this method. |
