Abstract
[Objective] To observe the inhibitory effects and mechanism of Salvianolic acid B (Sal B) on apoptosis of myocardial cells in rats with acute myocardial infarction. [Methods] We produced myocardial infarction in anaesthetized rats by occluding the left descending coronary artery. Sham-operated rats served as controls. We assayed the myocardial cell apoptosis and the gene expressions by flow cytometry and real-time RT-PCR. [Results] Sal B can decrease the number of apoptotic myocytes and decrease the expression of IL-6, Bax and STAT-3. [Conclusion] Sal B can limit the myocardial cell apoptosis after infarction and the mechanism may be related to the down regulation of the apoptosis relative genes expression.
