Abstract
[Objective] To study the effects of Perilla frutescens stem on the contraction of colon smooth muscle cells of rats with lower limb ischemic reperfusion(LIR) and explore the mechanism. [Methods] LIR was induced in Wistar rats. Smooth muscle cells were isolated from the colon of the rat. The contractile response of colonic smooth muscle cells to Perilla frutescens stem and other medicines were observed respectively. [Results] The mean length of the colonic smooth muscle cells increased in model rats. Perilla frutescens stem could increase the contraction rate of model colon smooth muscle cells, the concentration of the maximal response was 50 g/L. The contraction caused by Perilla frutescens stem could be inhibited completely by EGTA or verapamil. [Conclusion] The contraction caused by Perilla frutescens stem may be mediated by the presence of extracellular calcium.
