| Abstract
|
| [Objective] To observe the clinical effect of enema with tuihuang(eliminating jaundice) and jiangan( decreasing the ammonia retention) decoction in treating hepatic encephalopathy. [Methods] One hundred and fifty-two patients with hepatic encephalopathy were randomly divided into treatment group (76 cases) and control group (76 cases). Tuihuangjiangan decoction was added in treatment group and lactulose treatment added to the control group. The treatment course was 7 days. The blood ammonia was determined before and after treatment. The resuscitation time was recorded. [Results] The effect of decreasing ammonia was better in treatment group than that of the control group (P<0.05) and the time in a coma was shorten. The effective rate in the treatment group was 82.9% (63/76); and 67.1% (51/76) in control group with significant difference(P<0.01). [Conclusion] Enema with Tuihuang and decreasing ammonia retention was effective in lowering blood ammonia. It can promote the patients for regained consciousness and can shorten the time in coma. |
