Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the effects of acupuncture on Renzhong, Neiguan point on activity of ATPase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) in rabbit cardiac muscle after cardiopulmonary resuscitation. [Methods] Thirty rabbits were randomly divided into 3 groups (n=10), the sham group only took pretreatment but asphyxia cardiac arrest was not induced; the normal CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) group were given normal CPR after cardiac arrest; the acupuncture and CPR group were given with normal CPR and acupuncture on Renzhong, Neiguan point. Two hours after the returning of the spontaneous circulation (ROSC), pieces of myocardium tissue for ATP and SOD, MDA content testing were obtained from all the animals. [Results] ATPase activity were decreased significantly both in the normal CPR group and the acupuncture and CPR group compared with that of sham group (P<0.01), but ATPase activity were higher in the acupuncture and CPR group than that in the normal CPR group (P<0.05). Meanwhile SOD activity decreased and MDA contents increased significantly after resuscitation compared with sham group (P<0.01); SOD and MDA in the acupuncture and CPR group were higher and lower than that in the normal CPR group respectively (P<0.05).[Conclusion] Acupuncture on Renzhong, Neiguan point may increase ATPase activity, superoxide dismutase activity, and decrease malondialdehyde content in rabbit cardiac muscle after cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
