Rashes and Convulsions,a monograph in the treatment with Chinese medicine for acute and dangerous diseases,was composed of three parts of The Essentials of Rash Disorders,38 Illustrations of Infantile Convulsions and Prescriptions for Emergencies.The book described the treatments and prescriptions for rash or sha patterns,which involved acute diseases in the cardiovascular,the neurological,respiratory,digestive,urological systems,and infectious diseases and acute laryngeal disorders,as well as the preparation and usage of simple prescription.Acupuncture played an important role in these treatments,among them bleeding was the character in acupuncture therapy.It also introduced that acupuncture could be used to treat acute diseases with fever in children,such as bleeding with acupuncture for measles and infantile convulsions.In addition,moxibustion could be used to improve the immunologic function of the body and to help against the infection of bacteria and virus.Nowadays,acupuncture,moxibustion,and bleeding techniques were seldom used to treat acute pediatric diseases.However,acupuncture was markedly effective,especially for infantile convulsions.This book was broadly covered and rich in content so it was highly recommend to Chinese medicine specialists. |
