| Abstract

| On the basis of the descriptions of ’Neijing’ (Internal Classic of Medicine) and’Shanghan Zabing Lun’ (Treatise on Exogenous Febrile diseases and Miscellaneous Diseases) Lee Dong-yuan established the theories,therapeutic methods,prescriptions and drugs for damp syndromes caused by the internal injuries of the spleen and stomach. It suggested that the researchers in the later periods could therefore develop more methods and prescriptions in treating damp diseases. In this study,91 prescriptions for treating damp syndromes were collected from ’Neiwaishang Bianhuolun’ (Differentiation on Endogenous and Exogenous Disease),’Piweilun’ (Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach),’Lanshi Micang’and’Dongyuan Shixiao Fang’. After analyzing these prescriptions,we concluded that there were 9 therapeutic methods of Lee Dong-yuan generally used for treating damp syndromes. The methods included expelling wind and resolving dampness,dissipating coldness and resolving dampness,draining dampness,combination of sweating method and draining dampness,regulating Qi and resolving dampness,raising yang Qi and resolving dampness,replenishing the Qi of the spleen and resolving dampness,using pungent drugs for dispersing and bitter drugs for purging,and clearing heat and drying dampness. |
