Clinical observation on acupuncture for treating middle or elderly aged patients with insomnia |

Abstract
|
[Objective] To systemically evaluate the effect of the acupuncture therapy on the patients with insomnia.[Methods] Sixty cases of insomnia were randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 30 cases in each.The patients of acupuncture group was treated with acupuncture at Shenmen(HT 7),Baihui(DU 20),Sishencong(EX-HN 1),Fengchi(GB 20),Anmian acupoint etc.The patients of medicine group was treated with oral administration of Estazolamum troches.The changes of clinical symptoms,the result of PSQI and the result of the micro-movement sensitive mattress sleep monitoring system were compared before and after treatment of the two groups.[Results] After treatment,subjective sleep quality,sleep latency and habitual sleep efficiency were significantly improved in both groups(P<0.01),and there were no significant differences between two groups(P>0.05).The improvement of sleep disturbance,daytime dysfunction and deep sleep quality in the acupuncture group were superior to that in the medicine group(P <0.01).The improvement of sleep duration in the medicine group was superior to that in the acupuncture group.[Conclusion] The acupuncture therapy can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and sleeping quality of the insomniac patients. |
