Abstract
|
[Objective] To observe the effect of Biqi Capsule on the MMP-3 and TIMP-1 of serum,synovia and cartilage matrix in rats with Osteoarthritis and to explore its mechanism in protecting cartilage matrix.[Methods] In Wistar rats,4% papain was injected into their knee joints to establish the animal model of osteoarthritis.They were treated with Biqi Capsule through intragastric administration for eight weeks and were killed at the end of experiment.The contents of MMP-3 and TIMP-1 in the Serum,synovia and cartilage were tested by ELISA analysis.[Results] Biqi Capsule could enhance the TIMP-1 activity in cartilage matrix,inhibit the MMP-3 activity in synovia(P<0.01),and decrease MMP-3/TIMP-1 ratio in cartilage matrix,synovia(P<0.01).But it had no effect to the expression of MMP-3,TIMP-1 and MMP-3/TIMP-1 ratio in Serum(P>0.05).[Conclusion] The mechanism of Biqi Capsule’s in protecting cartilage matrixm may be inhibiting degradation of proteoglycans in cartilage matrix by enhancing the TIMP-1 activity in cartilage matrix,inhibiting the MMP-3 activity in synovia,decreasing the ratio of MMP-3/TIMP-1 in cartilage matrix,synovial. |
