| [Objective] To observe the effect of Biqi capsule on the Nitric oxide (NO) and hydroxyproline (HYP) in rats with osteoarthritis.[Methods] Wistar rats were used.Papain was injected into their knee joints to establish the animal model of osteoarthritis.They were treated with Biqi capsule through intragastric administration for 8 weeks.The contents of NO and HYP in serum and HYP in urine were detected.[Results] The contents of HYP in urine were obviously increased in model group in the first day [ (17.07±4.10) mg/L,P<0.05],and were normal in the fifteenth day and sixty-fourth day [ (9.92±3.09) mg/L, (13.77±1.32) mg/L,P>0.05].The contents of NO in serum were obviously increased (22.64 μmol/L,P<0.01) in model group.In treatment group the contents of NO in serum were decreased by Biqi capsule,1.296 g/kg and 0.648 g/kg (18.24 μmol/L and 19.14 μmol/L,P<0.01).[Conclusion] Biqi Capsule can decrease serum contents of NO in OA rats,and ameliorate the NO-mediated damage of the cartilage in joint. |
