Treating polymyalgia rheumatica by bee-stinging combined with Shentongzhuyu decoction in 37 cases

Abstract
    [Objective] To observe the clinical effect of bee-stinging combined with Shentongzhuyu decoction on polymyalgia rheumatica(PMR).[Methods] Seventy-three patients with PMR were randomly divided into two groups.Thirty-seven patients in the treatment group were treated with bee-stinging and Shentongzhuyu decoction;thirty-six patients in the control group were treated with prednisone only.The therapeutic course was 30 days.[Results] The total effective rates were 94.5% and 72.2% in the treatment group and control group respectively.The clinical effect of treatment group was superior apparently than that of control group with a significant difference(P<0.05).[Conclusion] Bee-stinging combined with Shentongzhuyu decoction possesses significant effect on PMR.It can decrease ESR and CRP in patients.
