Optimization of extracting art of Diyu SiHuang power and preparation of gel

Abstract
    [Objective] To optimize the extracting art for Diyu Sihuang powder and prepare a gel. [Methods] Using orthogonal design method and taking extracted amount of gallic acid, baicali, baicalein and some related components of Rhubarb as the observing indexes, the extracting art was optimized by analysis of variance. Gel from the extract was developed. [Results] The optimum extracting conditions of Sihuang were obtained by adding ten times amount of 50% alcohol and extracted under reflux for 1.5 h, 3 times; while Diyu was obtained by adding eight times amount of water and extracted under reflux for 1.5 h, 3 times. The gel was prepared by using 1.5% Carbopol and the extraction was feasible. [Conclusion] The preparation technology of gel is simple, the produced gel was fine and uniform.
