Abstract
|
Spleen-yin is the nutrient substance from digesting and absorbing of water and grain and is the material basis of spleen function activities. It has the functions of nourishing blood vessel, transforming qi and blood, irrigating and moistening the viscera and meridians and nourishing muscle and limbs. Spleen-yin deficiency commonly caused by improper diet, overstrain, excessive thought, six exogenous pathogenic factors, and excessive treatment for diaphoresis and emetic therapy and damage of healthy qi due to improper treatment or prolonged illness. The clinical manifestations are imbalance of transportation and transformation, yin deficiency generating interior heat, and abnormally moistening and nourishing the body. The therapeutic principle of spleen-yin deficiency is “nourishing spleen yin”. The sweet herbs which have the function of harmonizing and moderating effect are always used to treat this syndrome. We should also regulate qi and blood and the function of stomach should to be taken into consideration at the same time. |
