Abstract
|
[Objective] To observe the therapeutic effect of Yishen Huayu granules in treating early diabetic nephropathy (DN) and its impact on Hcy and NAG levels in patients. [Methods] Sixty-four early DN patients were divided into treatment (32 cases) and control group (32 cases). The patients in the control group received conventional treatment for diabetes and hypertension while the patients in the treatment group received Yishen Huayu granules additionally. The therapeutic effect was assessed following 3 months treatment and the changes in TG, TC, FBG, Hcy and NAG levels were also determined. [Results] There was statistical significance (P < 0.05) in effective rate between the two groups. Following 3 months treatment, the UAER, Hcy and NAG levels in patients of both groups decreased significantly (P < 0.05). The reduction in UAER, Hcy and NAG levels in patients of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The TG, TC and FBG levels in patients of both groups also decreased after treatment, however, there was no statistical significance between the two groups (P > 0.05). [Conclusion] Yishen Huayu granule was effective for treatment of early DN with significant reduction in Hcy and NAG levels in patients. However, its effect on decreasing the blood glucose and lipid levels in patients is no significance, which suggests the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine for prevention and treatment of complications of diabetes may involve anti-inflammatory along with microcirculation improvement without hypoglycemic effect. |
